Located in Hillcrest, Libertad is San Diego’s first not-for-profit taco venture to dedicate earnings to charities, which rotate on a monthly basis. Offerings range from shrimp, skirt steak and pork belly to duck confit and octopus with house made tortillas and traditional churros to round out the menu. Pie in the Sky Bake Sale Kicks Off! | October 9, 2017
Mama’s Kitchen’s Pie the Sky Campaign begins today! Over two dozen local bakers will donate hundreds of fresh baked pumpkin, apple, Dutch apple and pecan pies to the West Coast’s largest bake sale. Order yours today, and pick them up the day before Thanksgiving at one of more than 20 pick-up sites around San Diego County. Each $25 pie we sell provides 8 meals to our clients.

Susan G. Komen San Diego Race for the Cure® | November 5, 2017
Sign up for the 2017 Susan G. Komen San Diego Race for the Cure® taking place Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017. The 5K and 1 Mile Walk/Run will kick off at 8 a.m. at Balboa Park. Funds raised from the race help Komen provide free breast cancer services (diagnostic mammograms, life-saving screenings, temporary financial aid, meal deliveries, education, research and more) for those in need.
Today, there are more races than you can count. But none have the same impact on breast cancer as the Komen San Diego Race for the Cure. With $1.1 million invested here this year alone, Komen San Diego continues to be the County’s largest provider of free breast cancer treatments, services, and support. Katie’s Healing Kitchen Pop-up Dinner | November 15, 2017
Katie’s Healing Kitchen will be taking over the Eat Your Heart Out food truck outside of Belching Beaver Brewery in North Park. Enjoy the healthy food you love in a relaxed fun environment. This month, they want to help the animals impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Bring in a $5 donation and you’ll get a bag of our delicious cheesy herbed popcorn. Donations are going to local charity “Pup Package” and “Austin Pets Alive”

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources. This giving Tuesday, support Mama’s Kitchen!
Tree of Life | December 1, 2017
Each year Mama’s Kitchen and Village Hillcrest commemorate World AIDS Day by recognizing and remembering those affected by AIDS, as well as the ongoing leadership efforts made to end the epidemic. It is an evening of memories, singing, sharing, and a candle lighting to honor those affected by AIDS. Donation of $15 is requested for each personalized ornament to hang on the tree through December. Two ornaments can be personalized for $25.
Looking for another great way to give back this summer? Drop off non-perishable food donations on the 1st or 3rd Sunday of every month for Mama’s Pantry at Ralphs Hillcrest (9:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm) or at Ralphs Mission Valley (9:30 a.m. to 3:30 pm). Look for the big, red barrels!
