Tree of Life
Mama’s Kitchen and Village Hillcrest hosted the 18th annual Tree of Life Lighting Ceremony on Tuesday, December 1st. The Ceremony, held each year on World AIDS Day, commemorates those affected by AIDS and recognizes the ongoing leadership efforts made to end the epidemic.
In 2009, Mama's Kitchen was joined by local elected and government officials and hundreds of San Diegans. In addition to remarks from Cortés and the evening’s special guests, the Ceremony included a candlelight vigil led by Terry Cunningham, Chief of the HIV, STD and Hepatitis Branch of Public Health, and holiday music provided by the Gay Men’s Chorus of San Diego.
