MAMA’S KITCHEN SELECTED AS TACOS LIBERTAD’S CHARITY BENEFICIARY FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER

Mama’s Kitchen Will Receive 100% of Proceeds from San Diego’s Charitable Taqueria

San Diego, CA [September 29, 2017] – Mama’s Kitchen is thrilled to announce that they are partnering with San Diego-based restaurant collective, the Cohn Restaurant Group, to be featured as October’s charity beneficiary for Tacos Libertad – the group’s new taco concept. Located in Hillcrest at 1023 University Avenue, Libertad is San Diego’s first not-for-profit taco venture to dedicate earnings to charities, which rotate on a monthly basis. Mama’s Kitchen will use these donations to continue to provide three meals a day, free of charge, to neighbors across San Diego County who are struggling with HIV/AIDS or cancer.

Since opening doors in late May of 2017, Libertad has won over the local community with its exciting lineup of globally inspired tacos. Offerings range from shrimp, skirt steak and pork belly to duck confit and octopus with house made tortillas and traditional churros to round out the menu.

ABOUT TACOS LIBERTAD: Libertad donates 100% of profits to 12 local charities annually, with organizations rotating monthly. Profits constitute the money made after operating expenses, and the Cohn family guarantees a $3,000 minimum donation to each charity of the month, regardless of the venue’s monthly earnings. An advisory committee of local volunteers (none of whom are employees of the Cohn Restaurant Group) collectively selects each charitable recipient. Libertad, meaning ‘liberty’ in Spanish, showcases an exciting lineup of globally inspired tacos ranging from shrimp, skirt steak and pork belly to duck confit and octopus, all at approachable prices. The house made artisan tortillas are made-from-scratch daily in the open-air kitchen. Rounding out the menu are traditional churros, Mexican beers and Blue Sky natural fountain sodas. In the hours after midnight, Libertad transforms into a walk-up storefront, with late-night snacks served out of a Dutch door for grab-and-go access.
