Featuring the cast of the hit musical “Jersey Boys”
San Diego, Calif. – Mama's Kitchen, a volunteer-driven, non-profit meal delivery service dedicated to providing nutritious meals 365 days a year to San Diegans living with HIV/AIDS, will be the recipient of a benefit concert called Rockers on Broadway.
Rockers on Broadway will be performed by the cast of Jersey Boys, a world premiere musical currently playing to great acclaim at La Jolla Playhouse. The concert will be an 80-minute jam session of creative talent and voice as these performers go back to their roots of rock and roll. Most of these actors have performed on Broadway. While in San Diego, Rockers on Broadway will be backed by San Diego's own Red Dirt Band. The benefit event will be held on Monday, November 15 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Bourbon Street, located at 4612 Park Boulevard. Tickets are $25 per person.
According to show producers Peter Gregus and Donnie Kehr, “We have done this benefit performance numerous times in New York with great success. Our cast have a great time performing for charitable organizations involved with AIDS, and we thought, why not extend this to the San Diego community? We truly look forward to a successful concert for Mama's Kitchen. We know they are a worthwhile organization with a solid reputation.”
Rockers on Broadway is sponsored by Bourbon Street, a popular bar located in University Heights. In addition to the cast of Jersey Boys, the producers of Rockers on Broadway will be bringing in special guests who were in the original casts of popular Broadway plays such as The Who's Tommy, AIDA, Jesus Christ Superstar, Cats, Big River, The Full Monty, and many more.
Mama's executive director Alberto Cortés says, “Rockers on Broadway have played to rave reviews in New York. We are very fortunate to have this group of talented actors entertain San Diego in a casual and enjoyable atmosphere at Bourbon Street. And we hope that many of our supporters will take part in this rare opportunity to benefit Mama's Kitchen.”
