Volunteers Label Orders as PIE IN THE SKY Enters Final Stretch Get a Flavor For San Diego 's Community Spirit At Its Best
WHAT:
Perfect family-oriented news event taking place at PIE CENTRAL on Saturday, November 12 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Nearly halfway toward reaching its goal for pie sales, Mama's Kitchen needs YOUR help to ensure that the bake sale is successful

Capture the holiday spirit in action as volunteers from Mama's Kitchen prepare labels for all of the pies that have been ordered during its first-ever Thanksgiving bake sale, MAMA'S PIE IN THE SKY
- San Diego 's top pastry chefs, caterers, and bakeries are donating thousands of delicious pumpkin, pecan and apple pies to fulfill the orders from the bake sale
- Volunteers have been selling the delectable treats since October 19 through businesses, schools and organizations all over San Diego County
- The PIE IN THE SKY bake sale is entering the final stretch as the order window closes on November 16

WHY:
Mama's Kitchen has NEVER turned away anyone in need and the proceeds of the PIE IN THE SKY BAKE SALE will help her to keep her promise. The new fundraising event was initiated to recoup the recent losses in government funding, which total $115,000 in fiscal 2005. Since the event kicked off at PIE CENTRAL on October 12, with a party featuring a celebrity pie eating contest and an appearance by San Diego Charger, Ben Leber, mouths have been watering all over town as participants eagerly await their delicious pies!
About Mama's Kitchen
Mama's Kitchen was founded in 1990 when volunteers from the AIDS Assistance Fund, a food bank for people with AIDS, discovered that many of their clients were becoming too ill to take care of themselves. They realized that a reliable home meal delivery service was needed to ensure that these individuals would continue to receive nutritious food. Today, Mama's Kitchen prepares and delivers three meals a day for every day of the week to about 300 men, women, and children affected by AIDS or other critical illnesses in San Diego County.
