Mama's Kitchen and Special Delivery San Diego Celebrate Park Manor Suites' 80th Anniversary with Historic Joint Fundraiser
San Diego, CA – Mama’s Kitchen, a nonprofit meal delivery service for people with HIV/AIDS or other critical illnesses in San Diego County was one of two beneficiaries of a fundraising event held at the Top of the Park on Sunday, July 2nd. Special Delivery San Diego was the other beneficiary. This event was a historic occasion since it was the first time the two organizations worked collaboratively in a joint fundraising effort. More than 150 guests were in attendance during the casual afternoon of barbecue, beer and wine which culminated the weekend celebration of Park Manor Suites’ 80th Anniversary.
According to Mama’s Kitchen executive director Alberto Cortés, "Ruth Henricks and I are pleased with the opportunity to work together on a first ever joint fundraising event. We are grateful to Larry Pease and Ed Delehanty from Park Manor for supporting the missions of Special Delivery San Diego and Mama's Kitchen. And, as always the community support is most appreciated."
The event raised over $2600 which was evenly divided between the two agencies. As with all fundraising events for Mama’s Kitchen, the proceeds will go towards providing essential nutrition to our clients who are afflicted with AIDS or other critical illnesses.
About Mama's Kitchen
Mama's Kitchen was founded in 1990 when volunteers from the AIDS Assistance Fund, a food bank for people with AIDS, discovered that many of their clients were becoming too ill to take care of themselves. They realized that a reliable home meal delivery service was needed to ensure that these individuals would continue to receive nutritious food. Today, Mama's Kitchen prepares and delivers three meals a day for every day of the week to about 300 men, women, and children affected by AIDS or other critical illnesses in San Diego County.
