Volunteer Meal Delivery Drivers Needed for North County
Volunteer drivers are needed to deliver meals to clients in North County Coastal and North County Inland.

SAN DIEGO, August 13, 2008 – Mama’s Kitchen remains committed to providing home-delivered meals to people suffering with HIV/AIDS or other critical illnesses in San Diego County. Escalating gas prices, however, have greatly impacted our effort by creating challenges in the recruitment of delivery volunteer drivers.
“Volunteering at Mama’s Kitchen is a great opportunity to give back to the community and we need help all year long,” says Bill Patten, Director of Client & Volunteer services. “We can always use some extra wheels to deliver meals to our clients, especially in North County.”
Mama’s Kitchen provides three meals a day, 365 days of the year with three deliveries each week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Weekly emails alert our volunteers to the specific neighborhoods in need of delivery volunteers, allowing you to tailor your desire to help to your schedule.
While Mama’s Kitchen is located in downtown San Diego, satellite pickup locations are established in Carlsbad and Escondido for volunteers who live or work in those areas. Delivery volunteers are given specific driving instructions from house to house along with a map. Each neighborhood typically has 10-12 clients and all deliveries are made between 3pm and 5pm.
New volunteer orientations are held twice each month at Mama’s Kitchen, 1875 Second Avenue, San Diego.
