At Mama's Kitchen we believe that every person is entitled to the basic necessity of life, nutritious food. As a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization, we prepare and deliver food to men, women and children who are affected by AIDS or cancer.

Join Mama at This Year's Pride Parade
Come on out to the LGBT Pride Parade on Saturday, July 17 and show your support for Mama's Kitchen! Once again, the Kitchen will proudly participate in the 5th largest Pride Parade in the country. Starting at 11:00 a.m., the parade begins at University Avenue and Normal Street, proceeding west on University Avenue to Sixth Avenue, then turning south on Sixth Avenue, and ending at Balboa Drive and Upas Street.
Team Mama
Dust off your sneakers and start getting into shape to be a part of the Mama's Kitchen Team at the 21st Annual AIDS Walk & Run on Sunday, September 26, 2010 in beautiful Balboa Park. The 5K AIDS Walk and 10K AIDS Run (USA Track & Field sanctioned route) is the largest HIV/AIDS fundraiser in San Diego County. Opening Ceremonies begin at 7:00 a.m. and the 10K AIDS Run starts at 8:00 a.m., followed by the 5K AIDS Walk at 8:05 a.m. To register for Team Mama, visit the AIDS Walk Mama's Kitchen Team Page. For more information, call Mama's Kitchen at 619-233-6262. Registration fee is $35 per adult, $25 per Senior (60+) or Youth (17 & under). Proceeds benefit 20 outstanding HIV/AIDS services and prevention programs, including Mama's Kitchen.
In Memoriam
Danny Bodenmiller, lifelong friend of many, passed away in his home June 3, 2010 from natural causes. As one of the most innovative and adventurous performers in the Best In Drag show Los Angeles, Danny's love and passion for the cause motivated him to found, produce, direct and perform in Tantrums and Tiaras, an event that raised almost $50,000 for Mama's Kitchen and provided thousands of nutritious meals for individuals in need. In lieu of flowers, you can make a contribution to Mama's Kitchen/Tantrums and Tiaras in Danny's name at www.mamaskitchen.org. You can go to www.mem.com and share a memory of Danny. Search for Bodenmiller and then hit sign guest. Danny, you are a true inspiration and Mama's Kitchen is indebted to your kind spirit and generosity. Your wig and shoe collection will not lose their shape.
North & East County Delivery Volunteers Needed!
Our greatest volunteer need is for North and East County Delivery Volunteers. Meals are transported to Carlsbad, Poway, Escondido, Lemon Grove and El Cajon for pick up by delivery volunteers who live or work in these areas.
Each Monday, Wednesday and Friday nearly 100 meals are transported to satellite pick up locations for delivery to our clients in North and East County. The meals are ready for pick up between 2:30 and 2:45pm for delivery to our clients between 3:00 and 5:00pm.
Each delivery route is designed to be completed within 90 minutes and in addition to the list of client names and addresses, turn-by-turn directions and a map are provided for each neighborhood.
Many of our delivery volunteers choose to participate weekly by delivering meals to the same neighborhood on the same day while others find that responding to our weekly email identifying available delivery neighborhoods works best for them. Either way, no other activity brings home the importance of our mission like delivering meals directly to our clients in their homes.
