Our Mission

At Mama's Kitchen we believe that every person is entitled to the basic necessity of life, nutritious food. As a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization, we prepare and deliver food to men, women and children who are affected by AIDS or cancer.

• One hour of volunteer time is valued at $22.79 in 2009*
• Volunteer in-kind contribution value: $672,464
• 140,602 miles driven in 2009 – average: 913 miles driven each delivery day
• Mileage reimbursement rate: $.55 per mile for business purposes
• Mileage in-kind contribution value: $77,331
• Total valuation of Volunteer contributions: $749,795

Charitable Mileage Deduction

If you itemize on your tax return, miles driven for a charitable purpose are deductible on your Federal income tax return at the rate of $.14 per mile. We can provide you with the dates you volunteered, and for delivery volunteers, the round trip number of miles of your delivery route from the pickup location.
