Whether you have lots of hours or just a few, a large bank account or a large heart, Mama’s Kitchen needs your help. Here are just a few ways that you can help to support the important mission of Mama’s Kitchen.
1. Volunteer in Our Kitchen.
Come alone or with a friend to prepare dinner, make sandwiches, or assemble grocery bags. You’ll be suprised at how many friends you walk out of our doors with.
Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
2. Volunteer to Deliver Meals.
We have over 30 delivery routes throughout San Diego County. All it
takes is an extra hour or two for each route and each route is usually
covered by two volunteers. Delivery hours are Monday, Wednesday and
Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
3. Adopt-A-Route.
Your business, school, or service organization can adopt one of over
30 delivery routes. Meals are delivered as a team, with one person acting
as the team captain and contact person for Mama’s Kitchen. Each week,
two members of your team will deliver your adopted route. It’s a great
way to build teamwork in your organization.
4. Gifts In-Kind.
Gifts in-kind are gifts of services and goods. Support Mama’s Kitchen by providing technical expertise and professional services. Other in-kind gifts include food from food drives, office supplies, auction items for fund raising events, and items for volunteer recognition programs.
5. Turn Your Party into a Benefit to Support Mama’s Clients
When you host a party for any occasion, ask your guests to make a donation to Mama’s Kitchen instead of bringing a gift. All who contribute will receive a thank you from Mama’s Kitchen.
6. Introduce Mama’s Kitchen to Others.
Word of mouth is our best source of referrals for volunteers and donations.
We need your help introducing Mama’s Kitchen to individuals, other businesses,
celebrities, friends, and family members who share our concern for people
living with AIDS or cancer.
7. Matching Gifts.
Many companies have programs which match charitable contributions by their employees. Through corporate gift matching, employers can multiply your gift to Mama’s Kitchen. Ask your employer if you have such a program where you work.
8. Food Drives.
Food drives can be a fun way of supporting Mama’s Kitchen! Food drives
help keep our food expenses to a minimum. The nonperishable items collected
at food drives (click
here for our wish list) help stock our shelves at Mama’s Pantry
in North Park.
9. Organize a food drive at:
Your place of worship
Your office/place of employment
At a private party or house party
Your school, association, or club
We will deliver the empty barrels, provide literature and pick up the full barrels once the food drive is over.
