Executive Director:

Alberto Cortés

Over 25 years management experience in HIV & AIDS services with nonprofit organizations. Has broad experience in cross-cultural and bilingual service delivery. Served on our board for two years, one of them as treasurer. As executive director of Mama’s Kitchen since 2002, has responsibility for staff, program success, and fiscal integrity. Has an MBA from San Diego State University and is a Navy veteran.

Executive Chef:

Jason Martin

With an education in human nutrition and public health and classical training from the Scottsdale Culinary Institute, Jason has over 10 years’ experience as an executive chef spanning across non-profits, multi-outlet hotels, a high-volume catering company as well as his own personal chef business, focusing on fresh, local, healthful choices.

Director of Development:

Ben Coyle

Joining Mama’s Kitchen in 2012, Ben and the Development Team are responsible for a diversified fundraising plan that includes individual giving, corporate and foundation grants, government support, and Mama’s Kitchen’s signature fundraising events. A graduate of San Diego State University, Ben has nearly a decade of experience fundraising for nutrition-focused nonprofit organizations.

Director of Programs:

Gigi Cantin

Responsible for supervision of the Home Delivered Meal and Pantry Programs, Gigi also coordinates the Volunteer Program and Client Services. With over 25 years experience in marketing, operations and fundraising, she joined the staff in 2012 as the Capital Campaign Manager. Interacting with volunteers, donors and clients is what she enjoys most about her job.

Director of Administration and Finance:

Kelly Sherlock

With over 25 years of experience, Kelly manages the financial and human resource functions of the organization, policy implementation, and advocacy and governance support.  She joined Mama’s Kitchen in 2005 as a volunteer, as staff in 2013, and has an M.A. in Non-Profit Leadership and Management from the University of San Diego.
