Volunteer with us!

Our dedicated team of volunteers makes it possible for Mama’s Kitchen to provide the nutrition and compassion to the men, women and children of San Diego who are affected by HIV, cancer or other critical illnesses.

Every weekday, our volunteers give their time and energy to prepare meals, pack grocery bags, answer phones and assist our clients in Mama’s Pantry.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays our delivery volunteers pick up meals in the late afternoon either at the kitchen or one of our satellite pickup locations in North County to deliver directly to our clients in their homes. Our greatest volunteer need is for delivery volunteers, especially in South Bay and North County.

On weekends our volunteers operate food drives for Mama’s Pantry at local super markets. Special Events volunteers help out at various locations and times throughout the year.

Our family of volunteers provides critical support for our mission and all the difference in the lives of our clients, whether they volunteer for a few hours a day, a week or a month. Many of our volunteers make new friends that last a lifetime!

It’s easy to get started. Your first step is to attend a volunteer orientation. Please note, we do ask that volunteers who have not yet reached their 18th birthday be accompanied by a parent at orientation and while volunteering.

Corporate Volunteer Opportunities are also available. Please contact Grants & Institutional Giving Coordinator Kay Bolden at kay@mamaskitchen.org.
